UiTM Unicorn Scholar Programme (USP)

UiTM UNICORN SCHOLAR PROGRAM or better known as UiTM USP, is one of UiTM's Elite programs specially designed to produce students who excel academically, improve students' entrepreneurial competence and provide employment and business opportunities among UiTM students.
This program has opened up great opportunities for 30 UiTM students who have been selected to practice entrepreneurship in a real business context. This opportunity will also give students experience where it will increase practical knowledge in the field of entrepreneurship and increase self-confidence to open their own business during or after graduating. This is in line with KPT's goal to empower the entrepreneurship agenda at the University.

UiTM Unicorn Scholar Program (Entrepreneurship), or previously known as the Chancellor Scholar Program has received approval from the University Executive Council (MEU) No. 02/2020 on January 15, 2020. MASMED has been held responsible as an executor to run this elite program.
This program has received an injection of funds from the Education Excellence Fund under the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic and International Affairs. This program has received full support from UiTM Senior Management.
The objective of this program is to enhance the entrepreneurial culture at UiTM and establish smart partnerships between the university and industry to meet the country's aspirations in producing holistic graduates and increase the number of graduates who choose entrepreneurship as a career.
This opportunity will also give experience to students who are involved in improving practical knowledge in the field of entrepreneurship as well as increasing self-confidence to open their own business during or after graduating. This is in line with the goal of empowering the entrepreneurship agenda at the university.

Collaboration with real entrepreneurs is seen to be able to open up opportunities for student entrepreneurs to create an ecosystem of support for each other to ensure the sustainability of their business.
The UiTM USP program has also gained the trust of the Ministry of Higher Education (Entrepreneurship Unit, Coordination & Policy Research Division), and collaboration with industry practitioners such as Alumni UiTM Business Network (Alumni Biznet), Malaysia Global Innovation & Creativity (MaGIC) and Women Leadership Foundation ( WLF).
The 30 students selected in this program are individuals who have a high academic level and are running their own business or have a business idea that can be highlighted. In line with the term "unicorn" itself, the selection of students is done through a screening stage that includes a "Video Pitching" session, a personality test and the preparation of a business plan to ensure that the selected students are high quality students.
Among the impacts of this program is the establishment of 30 companies that are registered under the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) and are able to increase the minimum sales revenue by 10 percent. In addition, students are also qualified to become business coaches and further create job opportunities for the community.
Students also have the opportunity to get an injection of business funds from investors - capital investors. This program is able to completely change the entrepreneurial landscape of UiTM in producing graduates who are excellent leaders and have a high entrepreneurial spirit to become 'captains of industry' in the future.

The Pre-Launch Program was officiated by the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, YB Datuk Mansor Othman. He also presented certificates to UiTM Unicorn Scholar Program (USP) participants at UiTM Shah Alam on 19 March 2021.
